BROWN GIRLS LOVE POWER DAY

” I am a strong black woman, I cannot be intimidated and I’m not going anywhere” -Maxine Waters

Determined to start 2018 on the right track there was no other way but to be surrounded by my melanin infused sisters at Brown Girls Love Power Day presented by Toyota and curated by Love Brown Sugar mastermind Christina Brown. Chock full of inspiration, empowerment, and the gems necessary to start for some, or elevate to the next level. Topics included branding, finance, entrepreneurship, and self-care; all by ladies who were all under 35. I beamed with a sense of pride as I listened to all their stories about taking leaps of faith, believing and trusting God to care for them as they followed their purpose in life in various fields. Panelists include power makeup mogul Kim Roxie, nail guru NYC native and Haitian raised Nicaila Matthews Okome, digital influencer Jade Kendel, Side Hustle Pro extraordinaire Nicaila Matthews Okome, Digital Influencer, Dreams In Drive Rana Campbell, Founder, WhitPR Dreena Whitfield, and Senior Digital Lifestyle and Relationships Editor, ESSENCE Charli Penn just to name a few. The audience was filled with women who traveled near and far to pick up the shining gems that the panelists dropped throughout the discussions and Q and A sessions.  The Mane Choice CEO Courtney Adeleye was unable to come as result of the crazy weather that blanketed the east coast but in her place Christina was candid, honest, and authentic. She shared her stepping out on faith moment, the struggles of being a mompreneur, and the importance of collaboration. Another standout moment for me was the workshop by Sheila Coates  founder of, Be Your Own Brand (BYOB) who did an amazing job of making you question and/or evaluate what your brand is, what makes you unique, and what you are putting out into the world. Simple concept but mind-blowing when you think that the social media landscape is saturated with lots of amazing people, but what sets you apart is what impacts your check. More than the swag that we received which is AMAZING you were fed physically and spiritually with what you needed in order to take 2018 by it’s edges and slay the day. I can’t wait till next year kudos to the amazing people at Love Brown Sugar team.
